Our extremely popular CPC courses are delivered at venues and customer sites across the UK and we’re able to offer off-the-shelf training or more bespoke options tailored to fit individual company requirements. Modular Driver CPC Training

To offer a truly flexible range of courses, we’ve developed our series 3.5 hour half day approved CPC courses, which are available with a ‘pick and mix’ approach, allowing you to select 2 options from 12 different courses to create a 7-hour CPC course.

Called Safe, Green and Efficient, this modular approach means you can pick from a number of specially created content, which has been designed to reflect industry ‘hot topics’. Covering subjects such as legal responsibilities, compliance, road safety, fuel efficiency and environmental awareness, these courses will help you run a safe, green and efficient transport operation.

Driver Roadworthiness & Road Risk

FORS Smart Driving eLearning included

(3.5 hours)

This module will provide delegates with a better understanding of road risk that will remind drivers of their responsibilities for a driving a safe vehicle. During this session, drivers will understand the combination of physical and cognitive skills that can adversely impair a driver’s ability to drive. Guidance is given for driving defensively also an interactive case study that covers positive attitude and behaviour.

Understanding Drivers’ Hours and Tachographs

(3.5 hours)

This module aims to remind, revise as well as provide an insight into the rules regarding Drivers’ Hours, the European Union (EU) and Great Britain (GB). This module additionally provides general guidance concerning drivers and tachograph rules for goods vehicles, how tachographs record information about driving time, speed and distance and how they are used to ensure drivers and employers follow the rules on drivers’ hours.

Health and Safety in the Transport Environment

(3.5 hours)

The aim of this module is to increase and enhance the existing protection of drivers and crews, reduce the risk in the transport environment and ensure that operators who follow good practises are not put at a commercial disadvantage compared to those prepared to take short cuts with safety related matters and practises. This training session is intended to highlight, outline and recognise the risks, hazards and challenges for drivers and those who operate within the transport sector, including responsibilities associated with protecting the environment and promoting road safety.

Vehicle Roadworthiness & Load Safety (HGV)

(3.5 hours)

This module explains the regulations and driver responsibilities and systems involved in maintaining vehicles in a roadworthy condition, regardless of operating conditions, fleet size or vehicle type. The module is useful for operators and drivers to ensure the vehicle is safe to drive before setting off by conducting a walkaround check of the vehicle before they commence their journey.

Vehicle Roadworthiness & Passenger Safety (PCV)

(3.5 hours)

This module explains the regulations and driver responsibilities and systems involved in maintaining the vehicles in a roadworthy condition, regardless of operating conditions, fleet size or vehicle type. The module is useful for operators and drivers to ensure the vehicle is safe to drive before setting off by conducting a walkaround check of the vehicle before they commence their journey providing duty of care when transporting passengers.

Vehicle Safe Loading and Safe Loads

(3.5 hours)

This module outlines the safest way to carry, restrain and cover loads on a vehicle. Vehicles should not be used or loaded in such a way that it endangers either those using the vehicle or other road users, also ensuring that a load is suitably secured so that it is not likely to either fall, shift, move or be blown off the vehicle. The aim of this training session is to encourage delegates to think about how the load can be made safe for manual handling, loading, offloading as well as while being transported safely and securely by road.

Fuel Efficiency, Emissions & Air Quality

FORS LoCITY – Time to clean up eLearning included

(3.5 hours)

This module focuses on vehicle emissions, fuel efficient driving techniques and cleaner vehicle and alternative fuel technologies. The course equips drivers with knowledge of urban driving in the wider context and the strategy to improve air quality, actions and techniques to reduce fuel consumption and costs and the importance of vehicle checks and maintenance to reduce unnecessary emissions. An interactive case study that covers the cause and effects of poor air quality, driver behaviour and fuel consumption.

Reducing Penalties and Infringements

(3.5 hours)

The Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) and the police issue fixed penalty notices during roadside checks to drivers who have broken the law. These fixed penalties have been extended to apply to more offences, such as drivers’ hour’s law breaches and Driver CPC infringements, the action taken against drivers’ hours tachograph rules infringements is largely determined by the legislation. An interactive case study that covers the impact of illegal kerbside loading, parking charge notices.

Terrorism Risk and Incident Prevention (TRIP)

Terrorism Risk and Incident Prevention (TRIP) equips drivers with the knowledge ans skills to operate safely and reduce the risks of terrorism. This module aims to substantially increase the awareness of HGV drivers relating to their own personal safety and security as well as outlining their role and responsibilities of safeguarding the general public. TRIP focuses on the importance of the HGV driver’s personal safety and security in relation to potential exposure to criminal and hostile acts; emphasising the importance of their role ensuring their vehicles, including the loads they carry remain safe, secure and legal at all times. An interactive case study that covers use of mirrors and field of vision, indicating intentions early, checking the blind spots and giving plenty of room to vulnerable road users.

Work Related Road Risk

(3.5 hours)

The aim of this module is to promote and raise driver awareness in order to make the risk of a vulnerable road user being injured or killed as low as possible. This module refers to Health and Safety law applying to work activities on the road in the same way as it does to all work activities and you need to manage the risks to drivers as part of your Company Health and Safety Arrangements. An interactive case study that covers use of mirrors and field of vision, indicating intentions early, checking the blind spots and giving plenty of room to vulnerable road users.

On Cycle Hazard Awareness

(3.5 hours)

This dynamic, practical training module involves the instruction of vocational drivers to improve their road safety behaviour, using cycles on the public highway as well as off-road facilities. This module is designed to help participants improve safety by increasing their hazard perception skills adopting defensive and advanced driving skills by gaining first-hand experience as a vulnerable road user (VRU), through on-cycle hazard awareness, and recognise why cyclists behave the way they do.

Fitness to Drive and Wellbeing

(3.5 hours)

This module recognises that driving is complex activity that requires a combination of physical and cognitive skills that can be adversely impaired by a wide range of fitness and health conditions. These conditions can affect the driver’s performance and increase their crash and/or injury risk.

O Licence Undertakings – The Drivers Role

(3.5 hours)

The objective of this module is to raise delegate/driver awareness and enhance their understanding of what their role and responsibilities are in relation to supporting and maintaining their Company/Individual Operator Licence

Full Day Driver CPC Training

Terrorism Risk and Incident Prevention (TRIP)

(7 hours)

The TRIP training course provides drivers with the underpinning knowledge and understanding relating to the background, activity and methods adopted by International and Domestic terrorists that concern all who operate within the Transport Industry. The course identifies and describes the type of threats and risks that Drivers face and will enhance Driver and employer roles and responsibilities when carrying out daily tasks and duties to reduce these risks.

Safe Urban Driving

(7 hours) FORS Approved

Safe Urban Driving is an essential training course providing HGV and PSV drivers with the knowledge, skills and defensive driving techniques to deal with the ever increasing challenges of driving within the busy urban environment. The course introduces various vehicle technologies that are available to detect the presence of vulnerable road users in close proximity of vehicles and help drivers avoid incidents.

Van Smart

(7 hours) FORS Approved

A one-day course developed specifically for drivers of commercial vans to raise professional standards and improve van safety on London’s roads. The course is for anyone who drives a van –as a professional driver or driving a van for any part of the working day. The course focuses on the skills needed to improve driver behaviour to operate safely, reducing the risk of vans being involved in collisions and enabling van drivers to share the road safety with other road users.


(7 hours) FORS Approved

TruckSmart driver training is a seven-hour training course for all commercial HGV drivers, equipping them with the knowledge and skills to operate safe and roadworthy vehicles. TruckSmart focuses on the importance of driving roadworthy HGVs and the role of the driver in ensuring that vehicles and loads are safe and legal at all times. Alongside TruckSmart driver training there is an e-Learning module. The accompanying Fleet Manager Toolkit provides tools, guidance and resources for managers looking to develop and implement an HGV safety system within their organisation.

LoCITY Driving

(7 hours) FORS Approved

As London grows, so does traffic congestion and air pollution. This has a major and damaging impact on public health. Nearly 9,500 people die early each year in London because of poor air quality. LoCITY Driving features classroom-based modules to help drivers and transport managers save fuel and reduce the environmental impact of commercial vehicles.

Staying Legal

(7 hours) FORS Approved

Staying Legal is essential training for all HGV commercial drivers, regardless of the area of operation, which will raise the levels of knowledge to enhance awareness of compliance that is required for both the driver and the operator. The development of the Staying Legal course is in direct response to the high level of non-compliant HGV’s found during roadside stops and the suggestion from various enforcement agencies.

Work Related Road Risk

(7 hours) FORS Approved

The Work Related Road Risk (WRRR) course is designed to reduce the risk of incidents between freight vehicles, cyclists and other vulnerable road users. Work Related Road Risk equips the driver with an understanding of the requirements and legal responsibilities by ensuring drivers understand their responsibilities regarding road safety. By recognising work-related road driving activities reduces the risks faced by drivers and other road users by protecting and safeguarding them on the road network. This is done by enhancing the driver’s knowledge to enable effective, individual and corporate management WRRR. Enhance public perception, image and reputation of the company and the logistic industry.
