O’Donovan Waste Disposal completes Staying Legal CPC training, developed by Fleet Source and TfL

45 HGV drivers at O’Donovan Waste Disposal have this month completed a one-day Staying Legal Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (Driver CPC) course. In a proactive move, the company commissioned two courses for its drivers which were delivered out of hours and at its Tottenham Headquarters.

Developed by Transport for London (TfL) in partnership with the Metropolitan Police, DVSA and Traffic Commissioners, the Staying Legal is being offered to FORS accredited operators across the UK. It aims to provide HGV drivers with an understanding of the regulatory framework governing road transport and the enforcement agencies and regulations to ensure every driver, vehicle and journey is compliant; protecting the Operators’ Licence.

“Despite the fact O’Donovan is a FORS Gold operator and could have taken advantage of funded training offered by FORS, we chose to commission our own onsite Staying Legal course to avoid downtime for our drivers,” said Jacqueline O’Donovan, Managing Director. “Ongoing investment in our employees is a high priority to ensure we continue to operate safely and that our drivers are aware of their own and the company’s legal obligations; to that end we provide all our staff with the tools and training they need to ensure they are able to do this.”

Nick Caesari, Managing Director, Fleet Source Limited said “We offer a range of open training courses across the UK and are currently delivering Staying Legal for FORS operators around the UK. It’s extremely positive to see O’Donovan proactively training its drivers on the very latest course available. The Fleet Source team has worked closely with O’Donovan to enable the training to be delivered onsite and at weekends, avoiding any impact on their business operations”.
