The annual FORS Review was recently distributed and demonstrated growth and benefits of being a FORS Member.
The report from the last 12 months stated that benefits included:
- Brand new Practitioner workshop and practitioner re-certification course
- New eLearning modules including Smart Driving, Smart Deliveries, two LoCITY e-learning modules TruckSmart, Security and Counter-terrorism and more.
- Discounts including insurance, fleet management system and a driver licence checking service
The report also gave detail on an important aspect for any company – performance.
It stated that 15% of operators saw a reduction in CO2, 6% saw an improvement in MPG, 8% saw a reduction in PCN’s and 6% saw a reduction in incidents.
FORS membership is also growing, with 3,518 now at Bronze level accreditation, 897 at Silver and 239 at the highest Gold accreditation. The spread of the scheme within the UK has also grown highlighting regional growth. With growth rates in Scotland up by 24% and Northern Ireland by 50%. The international footprint of FORS also grew in 2017, with a 17% increase in companies outside of the UK being accredited. They also welcomed their first members in Spain and Qatar.
Fleet Source were also involved in delivering two brand new FORS Approved CPC courses, TruckSmart, aimed at commercial HGV drivers focusing on the importance of roadworthy HGV’s and and LoCITY Driving which is aimed at both van and HGV drivers, as well as Transport Managers designed to educate on how to cut costs and minimise environmental impact.
2017 also saw 27,158 drivers trained on either FORS Approved Safe Urban Driving, Van Smart, TruckSmart and LoCITY Driving, with the majority of the vulnerable road users courses delivered by Fleet Source.
The growth of FORS is evident and more and more operators are recognising and witnessing the benefits of being members of the scheme.
