Fleet Source’s ‘TRIP’ training course featured on BBC Radio

Fleet Source were recently contacted by BBC 5 Live, who were interested in our latest Driver CPC training course – Terrorism Risk and Incident Prevention (TRIP).

A BBC journalist requested to attend a live TRIP course being delivered to drivers to understand more about how the transport industry is now consciously aware of vehicular terrorism, but aren’t currently considering the risks to drivers and vehicles or under-going prevention strategies. They also wanted to see more of the Fleet Source TRIP DCPC course – providing the first-ever dedicated training course on terrorism awareness to Drivers and Managers wanting to reduce these risks.

The journalist interviewed Drivers on the day asking what they had learnt from the training and if it would now affect their daily behaviors when driving for work. The feedback was extremely positive and Drivers were in agreement that they will now further consider their vehicle safety and personal/public safety and have become more aware of the potential incidents of theft, hijacking, suspicious activities, behaviours, personnel and packages in relation to vehicular terrorism.

The focus on the rise of vehicle as a weapon attacks (VAAW) in relation to TRIP was presented on BBC 5 Live radio, alongside the interviews from the TRIP training course, plus a live interview with Fleet Source’s Managing Director, Nick Caesari.

Upon hearing the interview on BBC 5 Live, Fleet Source were then subsequently contacted by BBC Radio Solent and BBC Radio Kent who also were keen to interview Nick regarding the training delivered by Fleet Source. Further discussion included ‘phone-in’ interviews from Drivers and relatives of Drivers, who now consider the risks of VAAW attacks. They also mentioned how pedestrians reactions and behaviours toward their vehicles when driving for work has changed since the terrible, recent vehicular attacks since 2016.
