06 Apr FORS Publish 2016 Annual Review
FORS (Fleet Operator Recognition Scheme) have published the annual review on behalf of the FORS Community Partnership (AECOM, CILT & Fleet Source) this week (6th April 2017)
They have stated that many FORS members have reported significant reductions in collisions and fuel usage. “Fuel consumption improved yet again by some 10% year-on-year among FORS Gold members* in 2016” and “Incidence of slight and serious collisions was down by 11%”*.
As part of the FORS Community Partnership, Fleet Source have been providing vulnerable road user training for the scheme, delivering the training to over 12,000 drivers in 2016 alone.
Fleet Source also launched Van Smart FORS approved training course in 2016, focused at van drivers, which consists of a 3.5 hour theory module and a 3.5 hour practical module on bicycles. Like the Safe Urban Driving course, the training aims to equip drivers with the skills to become safer and defensive professional drivers.
The scheme is also reported to be growing outside the original base of London, with 74% of FORS membership now outside of the capital. Fleet Source have nationwide training centres to deliver the demand of the FORS Approved training courses.
There has also been an increase in the different stages of accreditation, with a 15% rise of Bronze accredited members, a 69% rise of Silver accredited members and a 49% rise of Gold accredited members. Operators are starting to see the importance of a recognised standard across the industry and the FORS Scheme will only continue to grow nationwide.
