Training that keeps drivers compliant

Fleet Source, principal contractor for Transport for London’s Safe Urban Driving course has developed a new seven-hour DCPC course on behalf of TfL, Staying Legal, as part of the CLOCS (Construction Logistics and Cycle Safety) initiative for HGV drivers.

clocs-fors The development of the Staying Legal course is in direct response to high level of non-compliant HGV’s found during road side stops and the suggestion from the various enforcement agencies that a specially designed course is required to re-educate offenders as well as non-offenders to make them aware of the possible implications.

TfL (Transport for London) are working exclusively with Fleet Source and are funding a series of Staying Legal Courses available for FORS accredited operators across the UK.

There are a number of key training objectives that the course gives a clear understanding of, including:-

  • Knowing the regulatory framework that governs the road transport industry, the legal and moral obligations of the driver and the enforcement agencies which police non-compliant operations
  • Identifying the enforcement targeting methods, common offences relevant to the driver, vehicle and journey and the consequences of non-compliant operations
  • Recognising good operating practices relevant to the driver, vehicle and journey that help ensure consistent compliance with the regulations
  • Appreciating industry led initiatives that help reduce work related road risk, raise standards and encourage the adoption of good operating practices

  • The Staying Legal course will contribute towards the seven-hours CPC training required.
