TfL wins Vulnerable Road Users Safety category at CILT Annual Awards for Excellence

Transport for London won the ‘Vulnerable Road Users Safety’ award at the  CILT (Chartered Institute of Logistics of Transport) Annual Awards for Excellence on the 19th October 2017.

The VRU Safety category, which was sponsored by Fleet Source, focused on outstanding achievement within initiatives which stop death or injury to vulnerable road users. Achievements can include road safety initiatives, transport planning solutions or operational developments which raise awareness of all parties sharing the road network. The entry should show measures that demonstrate the significant improvements from the initiative.

Fleet Source work closely with Transport for London in delivering the Safe Urban Driving program as part of the FORS driver training requirements.

The course, created by TfL in 2011, is the first accredited course in the UK to include on-road cycle training for HGV drivers. This element of the course gives drivers a vulnerable road user’s perspective of the road and helps to improve road safety through an attitude change towards cyclists and pedestrians.

TfL have funded a series of these training courses in and around London to enable all FORS Registered Operators to benefit from the training to help reach their FORS accreditation.

As an awards category sponsor for the second year running, Fleet Source had 2 tables at the CILT Annual Awards for Excellence. The event was a fantastic opportunity to network with like-minded colleagues and clients.
